Traditional Rajasthani Potter Communities Tours 2017
Share my experiences collected over 14 years of connections with these communities assisted by local potters to ensure an in depth and unique adventure. These tours will focus on locations where traditional pottery clusters can be found, although other places of interest are included if conveniently located, see the itinerary below for details.

Dinner: Old Delhi Stay: Hotel Tara Palace
Day 1 Old Delhi. Relax into India with a walk across the road to Jama Majid then Kinari Bazzar, rickshaw to the spice market etc
Lunch: Old Delhi Dinner: Old Delhi Stay: Hotel Tara Palace
Day 2: Metro to Uttam Nagar East. Travelling with us today and for the country tour will be Shirley Bhatnagar English/Hindi speaker, potter, has taught in Jaipur lived in the US and now living in New Delhi. Visit the Prasad workshop then to Kumhaargram to the home and workshop of Manohar Lal ( Manori Ji ) and family and visit several other family workshop, including an opportunity to have a turn on a pottery wheel.
Lunch: with family of Manori Ji Dinner: Old Delhi Stay: Hotel Tara Palace
Day3 Move from Old Delhi heading towards Rajasthan. Visit Sanskriti Kendra Terracotta Folk Museum and a contemporary studio potter TBC.
Lunch: TBC Dinner: Shirley’ suggestion in Jaipur Stay: Tara Niwas, Jaipur
Day 4: Amber Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar (Jai Singh’s 1728 astrological park* )

Day 5 Heading east, Abhaneri (Chand Baori, a step well*), Baswa to visit a potters cluster

Day 6: Manori Ji will be with us today Visit Potters in Ramgarh, Manori Ji's home town of Lachmangarh, and potter Ganga Sai

Day 7: Rest morning, afternoon wander in Alwar, market area and City Palace precinct.

Day 8: Heading towards Agra, may stop at Nagar or Deeg on the way to Fatehpur Sikri *
Lunch: On the road Dinner: Hotel Maya Stay: Hotel Maya
Day 9: Early morning visit to the Taj Mahal, afternoon Red Fort, autoride to the otherside of the river for sunset views over the Taj Mahal
Breakfast: Cafe with a Taj Mahal view. Lunch: Sheroes Dinner: Hotel Maya Stay: Hotel Maya
Day 10: Return to Delhi stopping at Vrindavan ( Holy City on the Yamana River),
Lunch: Vrindavan Dinner: Delhi TBC Stay: Green Meadow Guest House Green Park.
Day 11: Breakfast and goodbye * details given when appropriate
We will travel in what is known as a Tempo Tourer ( 12 seats) other than the first 2 days in Delhi where we will take the most appropriate transport including The Metro
Cost is based on twin share. Accommodation has been chosen for locations and ambience but with an eye for comfort.
All meals are included ( meeting evening dinner and departing breakfast) with a preference for vegetarian but not fixed on this. Alcohol would be at your own expense.
Entrances to ‘sites’ are not included, the most expensive being the Taj Mahal$15
You will be responsible for.
Getting to New Delhi and Hotel Tara Palace for the first night. They have fee airport pick up.

If you want to travel before or after your tour there are lots of options, you could also consider a residency at Sanskriti Kendra, Delhi Blue Pottery Trust co ordinate the pottery workshop there, the beautiful green grounds are a respite from the cacophony outside. Other suggestions, please ask.
